Shaping the Future of Healthcare Through Simulation
The healthcare simulation field is constantly evolving, and what better way to stay current with the latest trends and developments than by attending a two-day event dedicated entirely to simulation? SIM Summits, created by Avkin, provide just that for its attendees!
SIM Summit Indiana, hosted by Avkin and Simulation Center at Fairbanks Hall, IU Schools of Medicine and Nursing, IU Health, brought together simulationists, nurse educators, and so many more from all across the country for two days of learning, networking, and incredible discussions.

The event featured prominent industry leaders, including Amy Cowperthwait, RN, MSN, CNS, CHSE-A, founder and CEO of Avkin, as well as key representatives from Indiana University such as Julie Poore, DNP, RN, ANEF, CHSE-A, Director of Operations at the Simulation Center at Fairbanks Hall. Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from Lance Baily, founder and CEO of HealthySimulation.com.
A Range of Simulation Presentations
Presentations ranged from Hands on With Character Development with Amy Cowperthwait and Megan Weldon to Fusion of Creativity and Technology – Innovation in Simulation Through Collaboration with Julie Poore DNP, RN, ANEF, CHSE-A; , Dylan Cooper, MD, CHSE; Pam Napier, MFA.
SIM Summit attendees got a hands-on approach with the presentation Enhancing Simulation Through Medical Improv with Michael Davis and Noel Outland CHSE from Indiana University as well!
Later in the event, attendees had the opportunity to see Avkin wearables in action during a live demonstration with a standardized patient. The gold standard for maternal-fetal simulation education, Avbirth, and Avtrach were demonstrated at the Indiana University Simulation Center at Fairbanks Hall, highlighting the significant advantages of using standardized patients over traditional manikins in simulation training.
