Healthcare Simulation Week 2022 is officially underway! We at Avkin find this year’s theme, ‘Excellence in a New Era,’ the perfect theme as we see substantial technological and interpersonal advances in Sim labs worldwide. How can you find excellence with wearable simulators?
One Simulation lab that has caught our eye is at Duquesne University, which proudly uses Avcath and Avtrach in their sim labs.
“Healthcare Simulation is extremely important, I always relay to our students that in the simulation area, that’s your safe place to practice.“
Bernadette Clark MSN, RN, and Coordinator of Duquesne’s Learning and Simulation Center stresses the importance of simulation and learning in the safety of the sim lab to her students. Letting them know that this is a safe space, free from harsh criticism.
A big part of the sim lab that Duquesne showed off while explaining how they are preparing their students for excellence in a new era was their wearable simulators, including the Avcath and Avtrach. By utilizing these products and bringing in Standardized Participants (SPs), the haptic feedback creates a high-fidelity simulation that closely mirrors the experience.
