About the Presenter:
Beginning her career as an ER nurse, Amy Cowperthwait found her niche when transitioning to simulation at the University of Delaware. A trach simulation gone awry led Amy to develop a wearable technology solution that could be worn by standardized patients to improve clinical realism and learning outcomes in simulation based education. She founded Avkin in 2015 after years of interprofessional research and development work on the wearable simulator pedagogy. In addition to her work with Avkin, Amy is also busy presenting her work through keynote addresses at regional, national, and international events.
