In a significant move to bolster Delaware’s nursing workforce, two pivotal organizations have been established by the Delaware Nurses Association: the Delaware Nurses Workforce Institute and the Delaware Nurses Foundation. These entities aim to address the state’s nursing challenges through data-driven strategies and philanthropic support.
The Delaware Nurses Workforce Institute, led by former Delaware Nurses Association president Stephanie McClellan, will serve as the state’s nursing workforce center. Its mission encompasses collecting, analyzing, and reporting on nursing workforce data to inform policies and initiatives. By collaborating closely with the Delaware Nurses Association, the Institute seeks to expand the size, enhance the skills, and improve the success of Delaware’s nursing workforce through research, collaboration, and communication.
Complementing this effort, the Delaware Nurses Foundation, under the leadership of former Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long, will act as the philanthropic arm of the Delaware Nurses Association. The Foundation’s focus includes supporting mental health and well-being resources for nurses, providing scholarships, and funding educational and research initiatives. Hall-Long emphasizes the Foundation’s role in integrating philanthropy, education, and science to support nurses across the state
Together, these organizations represent a comprehensive approach to strengthening Delaware’s nursing workforce, addressing current shortages, and ensuring the provision of high-quality healthcare services statewide.
